Traveling to Indiana

We ate lunch at a great park in Chillicothe, Ohio. This crank trolley was the big favorite.

We spent the evening with Anne, Christi and the girls. Maca had this great parachute for the kids to play with.

Spencer the chef, or as he likes to call himself, the food guy.

Last Day!

The time has come for us to pack up and head out in the morning. We will miss this place, for sure, but we have no sadness about leaving. We feel very blessed to have spent this past month in such beautiful surroundings. Many times I have sat in the sand watching my boys play in the surf and wondered for a moment if I was dreaming. Precious memories for sure.

On this last evening, I intended to take a picture of the sunset on the sound, but I missed it, argh! So instead, a picture of the bridge that connects the island that Emeral Isle is on to the mainland. It still gives me the heeby jeebies to drive over.

Just a couple short movie clips.

The boys playing.

Thursday

A sure sign of humidity is when the windows are sweating!

We have collected soooo many shells, but some of my favorites are the teeny tiny ones.

Wednesday PM

Our friend Michael treated us to ice cream tonight, so we enjoyed some scrumptious Ben & Jerry's. Too bad Michael(and Trish and the kids) couldn't join us, I guess it would have been a long trip from the UK just for ice cream.

Wednesday AM

Asher is getting more brave with the water. Probably good that we're leaving this weekend or he'd start to make me nervous.

Even this was a first.

But then he was even doing this!
And quite enjoying himself I might add.

The constant changing of the beach has created these ridges, they are a new source of entertainment.

The boys all enjoy them in their own ways.

Tuesday

Isaac and Spencer picked out this small body board last night, and Isaac was real anxious to give it a try this morning.

We got a little surprise on the way out, this little ghost crab must've forgot that he was supposed to be sleeping. We played with him a little, then he ran off into the grass.

He didn't much like me coming close to take a picture, it was funny to see him get all big and try to be intimidating. I will say though, that both babies completely bought his big and mighty act. :-)
Also have to throw out there that his eyes can see 360 degrees and can retract into his head!

It's a big ocean.

When we're playing right by the water, Asher is usually in our arms, or doing this.

Isaac had a real good time with the board.

Damp and chilly after playing, we come inside for snacks.

Home for Sunset

In the dunes by our house, one of the biggest crab holes we've seen yet. You can see the tracks of the crab around the hole.

Asher tends to think of Isaac as being bigger than Isaac really is. He plays with Isaac the same way that he plays with Jeremiah and I. Isaac is really sweet and gentle with him though.

Daddy dug a big hole to bury Isaac in.

Asher gives some love.

Shackleford Banks - Lots of Pictures

First we took a 15 minute ferry ride from the harbor at Beaufort to an barrier island called Shackleford Banks. Surprisingly, Isaac was the most hesitant about the boat ride, a first for all the boys as far as we can remember.

There is a herd of wild horses, thought to be descended from Spanish mustangs that were shipwrecked several hundred years ago.

I found this guy on the island. Although you can't tell in this picture, the entire crab, legs and all, is about the size of a quarter. I think he is a water crab, but he was on the beach, dried up.

At the point of the island, currents coming from different directions merge and the enitre side of that beach is covered with shells. And by covered I mean nearly every inch is solid shells. It was fun to wander around in, but we definitely needed to wear shoes there!

The boys loved playing in the dunes there.
