Anne U White Trail With The Hills....Again

Last fall we went to the Anne U White trail with Kimberly and her boys. A great trail that followed a dry creek bed. We decided that we wanted to come back in early summer to see if we could find some water in the creek bed. Today we went back, and sure enough, there is water! I LOVE this place, it is the perfect trail to walk with kids and it is gorgeous!

Today I decided to leave my dslr at home and just take my point and shoot instead. I regretted that even before stepping out of the car.

The Johnson boys catching grasshoppers while waiting for the Hills.

The Hills arrive and the boys immediately busy themselves making a grasshopper house out of rocks.

So pretty!

A chunk of cactus that Isaac wanted to being home. Unfortunately he inspired Adam who consequently got cactus spines all over his hand, poor guy.

The youngest of each of our sibling groups, Adam and Asher.

We made it *maybe* a quarter mile down the 1.5 mile trail before the boys could no longer resist the water. We never did make it any further down the trail, but they had SO much fun playing in the water that we didn't mind at all.

Adam's transition from playing around the water to playing in the water was quite sudden and not necessarily with intention.

I believe at this time the boys were building a raft.

This brave mule deer ventured near to where we were.

He's Such a Boy!

Yesterday the boys used a bow and suction cup arrows in kid's church and Isaac was totally wowed! He had some birthday money and decided he needed to have one for himself, so we ran to the store today. Now all the boys are saving for their own bows and arrows, won't that be interesting?

Family Fun in Breckenridge

This past Saturday we met up with my Aunt Ruth + Uncle Gary(IL), Cousin Niki and her kiddos(MI), and Beth and her husband Dan(CO) in Breckenridge for the day. We spent the day wandering around Breckenridge with the kids and catching up with Niki and Gary while the others shopped. It was tons of fun and the kids got along great.

Rockies Game

We took the boys to a Rockies game tonight, it was chilly, but the sun did end up making an appearance. We made it through 6 innings before the boys made us crazy enough to head home. :-)

The boys enjoying their foot-long hotdogs.

The babies had cotton candy for the first time. They quite enjoyed it.

Rainy Day Walk to the Park

It's been raining for most of the last 24+ hours, very unusual for Colorado. We got a break from the rain for a bit while the Cables were over to hang out today, so we walked down to the neighborhood school and let the kiddos play. They all got really wet, but they had a great time(I think the adults did too).

Emma

Of course Samuel, still in his church clothes, couldn't stay away from the puddles.

Megan.

The little ones were getting worn out by the time we left since it was getting to be about bedtime. I took this one of Megan right before we left to walk home. I really like this one of her, but I can't decide which crop I like better.

A Birthday Hike

Right after breakfast, Isaac got to open one of his birthday gifts. This kid's mp3 player was a gift from Mommy and Daddy.

We decided to go for a hike on a new trail near Boulder. I wasn't sure it was going to be so great since we were walking right alongside a road at first.

With these guys watching our progress.

But then the trail starting following this.

With this on the other side of us. It turned out to be a really nice walk.

The birthday boy, 8 years old today!

Isaac spotted this guy watching us while we were taking a rest on a log.

There were lots of baby ground squirrels out and about.

And plenty of not-so-baby ones.

Baby bunnies too.

For my photographer friends, I am editing on my laptop tonight as I'm waiting for a new cable for my calibrated monitor. My excuse for the wonky colors today. :D
