A Birthday Hike

Right after breakfast, Isaac got to open one of his birthday gifts. This kid's mp3 player was a gift from Mommy and Daddy.

We decided to go for a hike on a new trail near Boulder. I wasn't sure it was going to be so great since we were walking right alongside a road at first.

With these guys watching our progress.

But then the trail starting following this.

With this on the other side of us. It turned out to be a really nice walk.

The birthday boy, 8 years old today!

Isaac spotted this guy watching us while we were taking a rest on a log.

There were lots of baby ground squirrels out and about.

And plenty of not-so-baby ones.

Baby bunnies too.

For my photographer friends, I am editing on my laptop tonight as I'm waiting for a new cable for my calibrated monitor. My excuse for the wonky colors today. :D

Looks like you all had fun on your hike! Didja HAFTA post the pic of the snake, though? UGH! Looks like HE was watching the baby ground squirrels & bunnies too! :)

Hey Shanelle,
That is a Bull snake..... Nice little fellas, they make nice pets. not joking either. They are pretty tamable when bought young. HE HE HE
FYI,
There is a nature path, park area on S. Wadsworth - just North of Hambden that you and the boys ought to check out. It's HUGE and has some pretty big nests along the stream, which I might add has some beavers in it....

Greg, we had guessed he was a bull snake, but he looks mighty different than the bull snakes in IL, so we weren't positive. This guy was kind enough to stay still and let us take each of the boys to get a good look at him.

I had a friend in high school(Hi Sheri!) who had pet snakes(her brothers actually) and I especially loved their ball python. I actually wouldn't mind having a pet snake. I don't think Jeremiah would be game though, and I KNOW my mom would never step foot in my house again.
