First day of school for the "babies"

Samuel to Pre-k and Asher to Pre-s.

Speaking of the Toad

Spencer says his name is Star Wars Hero.

And these last two just because they crack me up:

Zoe Likes the Water

Maybe trying to prove that she is in fact part labrador, Zoe had a great time frolicking in the water during our toad-acquiring park visit this past weekend.

Another day, another pet.

We told Spencer, months ago, that after the Illinois trip he could get his snake or frogs. I don't remember how it was that he decided on frogs - perhaps parental influence. We went to a park yesterday and a frog found Spencer. The frog may have changed it's mind when Spencer grabbed it because it jumped into the water and waited for Shanelle to go in the water and get it. The frog is now home with us and dining on worms.

I started brewing some 'stupid hot' chili this morning and then the boys and I left for Windsor. Yes, even though it is in the 90's - I love chili. Windsor Lake has a beach and play area. I didn't take any pictures but we did have a good time. We swam in the lake for a while and then took a break to play at the park and have snacks. We went back to the lake and swam some more but then had to quit around 6p due to rain. Good times.

We got home and Shanelle had stewed tomatoes - I made my chili a few hours too early! I don't think that I've had 'stupid hot' chili with stewed tomatoes from the garden for about 20 years. This is some fine chili but especially looking forward to next weekend for a pot with tomatoes from our garden! :)

Forts

The boys have been making lots of forts since we've been home.

Corn

Jeremiah took these photos with our point & shoot when we went to Brad's boss's house to feed horses. It was a full moon.

Wilderness in the Backyard

The garden went crazy while we were in IL!

I never knew lettuce would grow so tall!

Tomatoes galore, though we have dozens that we're still waiting to ripen. I was afraid they'd ripen and go bad before we got home.

The tomato plant on the right grew so much it tipped the cage over.

Yes, We're Alive!

I'm not sure I've ever gone 3 weeks between posts! We've been a lil' busy what with a trip to IL, Seth and Heather's wedding, and lots and lots of wedding photo editing.

I have just a few other pics from our IL trip that I still need to get off my little camera, but here are some from a walk to the park tonight.

Zoe has recently discovered that she can cross the canal at the park by our house, but tonight was the first time I'd seen her do it.
