Birds

There are lots of birds on the Mackey's property. Of course it probably helps that they have bird feeders all over. :-)

The hummingbirds were especially tricky to get photos of because they're so darn fast. They'd chase each other around within inches of my head while I was standing there with my camera.

Camping

We went camping for the first time since the boys were born. Our friends, the Mackeys, have some property down by the Royal Gorge and we thought what better time to try camping with kids when we only have to pack for 2 instead of 4.

This is what greeted us when we got down there Friday evening.

Trees to climb.

Samuel was in heaven on the quad with Greg.

Targets to shoot. Greg made targets in the shape of prarie dogs and squirrels.

Samuel in the orange shirt climbing up the rock pile. We decided we should forget about having a playset in the backyard and get a giant rockpile instead.

Zoe got to be off leash pretty much the whole weekend, which she LOVED.

Treasures that the coyotes have left behind.

Tired, dirty, content.

A Carrot Pic for Spence

Yesterday Samuel noticed something very exciting in the carrot section of the garden. I just had to take a picture for so Isaac and Spencer in IL(with Uncle Seth this wknd) could see. Spencer helped plant the carrots, so he has been especially interested in their progress.

First tomato of the year

Our tomato plants have loads of tomatoes, and the boys have been really anxious for them to turn red so they could pick and eat them. The biggest one of all just barely started to turn, but the day had come for the boys to head to IL with Grandpa Aaron and Grandma Judy and so Jeremiah let them pick it and give it a try. As it turned out, Isaac didn't like that the inside was green even though it tasted fine(and Spencer wouldn't try it at all). There will be lots of red tomatoes by the time they get back from IL!

Slacker's Recap

I haven't been very good about posting lately. Here's a little of what we've been doing. July 4th, the Cables came over for the afternoon and we went and watched Broomfield's fireworks. Upside: Spencer wasn't afraid of them. Downside: the fireworks show was pretty weak.

The next Saturday, the 11th, our friend Greg was working a fireworks show up in Loveland (Greg is a Jr Pyro for Angel Light Pyrotechnics). It was a small show for them since it was in a residential area. In fact, the fireworks were set off from the roof of the library. It was such a fun show with constant action and lots of loud booms. One of my favorite fireworks shows ever.

This is while we were waiting for the Loveland show to start.

One of the especially fun parts. This fan was about 120 feet across and it repeated many times.

Were you wondering what the Johnson Family looks like these days? Here ya go.

He makes me nervous.

Family Day at Track

Yesterday was family day at track. Jeremiah participated for the whole morning and the babies and I came toward the end. I didn't think to bring a camera(shame on me), so these are cell phone pics, but they were too funny not to capture.

Jumping the little hurdles.

Long jump.
