Science Experiments

Maca sent the boys this science experiment kit and the boys had a lot of fun with it yesterday.

Baking soda and vinegar are always fun.

This experiment combined water, vinegar and baking soda and then adding raisins and watching the raisins bounce around.

Yard sale

Spencer set up a yard sale in the backyard. He doesn't seem to be
bothered that no one comes.

School Happenings

Tonight we attended the Art & Science Fair at the boys' school. In the science area, Isaac had his Book About Me displayed, as well as his gorilla science report, and a few other things.

Spencer next to some of his displayed art work.

Samuel sitting next to/on his scarecrow.

Isaac had a collection displayed on the art side as well.

Samuel fell asleep tonight clutching his new stuffed animal. His friend from preschool, Ayush, had to leave the country asap when his parents found out last week that their work visa had not renewed. Samuel and Ayush were buddies at school, and they had to leave in such a hurry that we didn't get to say goodbye. Ayush left some toys that were too big to bring with him and Samuel's teacher wanted him to have something from Ayush. Samuel chose this big lion, Simba from The Lion King, and it is special to him. We are sad his little friend is gone.

I think he liked the bus best

Trying out my iPhone to post pics. Daddy chaperoned on samuel's first
field trip today.

Could It Be True?!

Yep, Samuel sat in one place for about 7 seconds tonight so I could snap this pic of him.

Ahhhh, Springtime in Colorado.

75 degrees and sunny. Perfection.

New Lens On The Playground

Last fall a friend of ours had a great idea to do a lens co-op. In short, go in with a few families to buy lenses that we wouldn't use often enough to justify buying on our own, but would be nice to have access to sometimes. We just received our first lens, a 70-300mm with vibration reduction. We're looking forward to taking the nice long zoom to a rocket launch soon. I gave the lens a try at the playground after church today. It was fun to be able to snap these pics of Samuel on the other side of the playground without disturbing his play.

Here Isaac is being taught by the big boys how to climb around the outside of the equipment, showing him just where to place his hands and everything. Isaac was thrilled that they let him tag along.

Hiding from the camera.

Ready for a big push.

Treats at DQ

We like to go to DQ for treats sometimes. We don't always tell the boys when we're going in case they're naughty on the way then we can just go home. On the way to DQ, Spencer gave us a good laugh:

Boys: Where are we going?
Shanelle: To the dump.
Isaac: Where are we really going?
Shanelle: To the dump.
Boys: <grumble grumble>
Shanelle: Boys, when we get to the dump, whatever you can find there to eat will be your bedtime snack.
Isaac: Mommy!?
Spencer: Mommy, I don't each junk food!

Poor Spencer had no idea why we were laughing so hard.

Can He Really Be So Grown Up? :-(

Asher seems to be growing up and I don't think I'm okay with it. For the last three days, he's not worn a diaper during the day, opting instead to use the toilet like brothers. You might think I'd be happy about this after having at least 1 child in diapers for the last 7 years straight, but I find myself sad instead. My last baby giving up what I view as one of the last baby things to go.

Pink and Tutus?!

Last Friday, I got to use my pink background for the very first time. To add to the girlie theme, I made each of the Cable girls a tutu. We had a lot of fun and the girls seemed to enjoy playing dress-up.

I included three of Emma because I am so proud of her(and excited for me!). She is usually not pleased to be in front of my camera, but on Friday she decided that she was going to let me get some nice shots for her mom and dad.

I really have picked up my camera in the last week

Last Saturday I shot another wedding with Jared. It was up in Ft Collins and the bride was the daughter of some friends from church. It was actually the first wedding ceremony that I've shot with Jared that took place in a church. There are a few more in my Flickr account linked to the right, but these are my favorites.
