A Rare Treat

Asher had a hard time settling down for bed tonight, so I brought him out to the couch and we cuddled and talked until he fell asleep. My boys are getting so big, its not very often that I get to hold a sleeping one anymore! :-(

I asked Jeremiah to get me my camera so I could document.

He was so crashed, he didn't even stir when I got up to retrieve my speedlite.

Isaac's First Kindergarten Field Trip

Isaac's class visited a produce farm today. They were told to bring an old pillowcase or other kind of bag. I sent a bag for Isaac of the "other" variety and it wasn't nearly big enough. The pillowcase his teacher lent him was so heavy I could hardly lift it!

What a haul, I think some veggie stew is in order!

Karate Belt Testing

Isaac and Spencer had testing this morning to move up to the next belt level in karate.

Getting their new belts at the end, white with a yellow stripe.

Spencer getting his certificate.

Isaac taking his bow.

The boys with their buddy Sam. Good job boys!

He Made Me Do It

Asher was sorely in need of a haircut anyway, but to make matters worse, he had started twirling his hair. After cutting out 2 knots in the last 2 days, I figured it was time to get the haircut sooner rather than later. I took him in this morning and got him a trim, a shorter version of his long style. He had another knot started by the time we got home. So this afternoon I took him back in to get it cut for real. I am a little sad, I loved his long hair, but I'll get used to it.

In case you're wondering, he's saying "CHEESE!" in these pictures.

He certainly shouldn't be able to do anymore twirling.

Jeremiah suggested I share a non-cheese photo.

So long, farewell to the Metro.

Jeremiah's trusty work car of 10 years has been retired today. I tried to clean it out for him once a year or so, but evidently not so thoroughly since I found the original window sticker from the dealer under the seats. Its been backed into 3 times by the neighbors across the street, has no a/c or radio, and Jer informed me last night that the headlights randomly turn off(nice). But it gets 50 miles to the gallon and starts up each and every morning.

Goodbye little car!

Birthday Party Fun

The babies and I ran to the party store this morning where Samuel picked out the decorations for his birthday celebration, Curious George.

Blowing out his candles.

Enjoying cake.

Samuel really got into opening gifts...

and enjoyed each and every one.

Asher got a little carried away when I told him to go wash his hands and face after cake.

Samuel is 3 Years Old Today!

Samuel has been a lot of fun lately. He's been less punky, less "2", and is really a joy to be around(most times). :-) Of all the boys, I have the best memories of his birth. It was laid back, almost fun, and to be sappy for a moment, very healing after traumatic birth experiences #1 & #2.

Happy Birthday Sweetness!

Isaac's Musical Debut

Isaac's kindergarten class played the song 'Praise Ye the Lord' on their kazoos for a church service at their school's church this morning. I needed to be at our own church, so I made Jeremiah promise to record it for me.

Isaac is in the top center of the screen, but his teacher is usually in front of him. There are glimpses of him in his white shirt though.

Spencer Too

Spencer was also a part of the service, singing with his pre-k classmates. He said he wasn't nervous, but that his tummy was worried about going on stage. :-) I think he did just fine. He is on the far right hand side.

Broomfield Days

We attended a Broomfield Days event today with the Cables, a morning parade followed by a kids carnival.

Who doesn't love a jumpy castle?!

Megan sure does!

Asher found his niche in the mushroom ballpit.

This little guy was our on truck tonight, isn't he cool? I very scientifically named him a leafbug, turns out, I was right!

Few More From Today

Interesting patterns in this log at the cabin.

A member of the chipmunk family that resides in the firewood piles.

Spencer practicing his soccer skills.

We stopped at the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center on the way home.

Weekend in the Mountains

We went back to Pinecone Lodge this weekend with Maca who is out for a visit and had a wonderful time enjoying perfect fall weather in the mountains west of Colorado Springs.

Here is a view of Pike's Peak from the front of the cabin.

Enjoying the trail around the 5 acres that Pincone Lodge sits on.

We spotted this mule deer on the roadside near the cabin.

We discovered a new are to explore called 11-mile Canyon. It was gorgeous and we had a great time. We'll definitely have to go back to get to see more of it.

The river was too fast to be able to wade into, but we did find a spot along the edge where the water was quiet and the boys could get their feet wet.

Samuel got a little more than just his feet wet.

Asher being a puppy dog.

A couple more mule deer we saw on the way out.

We had hot dogs and marshmallows at our campfire, yummy.
